DIARY - Page 10
March 17-19, 2001 (continued)

And I have learned a lot about the game of curling. Our selling booth is set up overlooking the rink. So when we are not busy we have a perfect view of the competition. I am impressed with the good sportsmanship of the athletes, the strategy used to play this game, and the friendliness of everyone. I also learned the first day to dress warmer! Standing around all day in this building causes the cold to soak right into your bones. I was amazed at the meals provided to volunteers...I expected a box lunch type of things. Instead we get hot meals, cooked by world reknown chefs (who have volunteered also). My lunches for three days were BarBQued Chicken, Spagetti (sauce with or without meat), Meat Loaf, all meals including 2 veggies, rolls, dessert and a drink. And not just one or two choices of drink, soda, fruit juices, water, coffee or tea. The best part of eating was everyone is in the tent sitting and talking to each other. You may have someone from Russia across the table from you, someone from Scotland on one side, and someone from Alaska on your other side.

For the next couple of pages I'll show you pictures of the competition, my uniform, and the various pins I have collected.
